GROWTH COUNSELING OFFERS EMDR INTENSIVES IN TWO FORMATS:

  • 3-DAY WEEKDAY INTENSIVE
  • 3-DAY WEEKEND INTENSIVE

These treatment options are designed to support your preferred schedule and timeline for accomplishing your treatment goals.

What is EMDR Intensive Therapy:

EMDR is a type of therapy that targets, processes, and resolves past trauma quickly and safely.  It works by resolving the “root cause” of mental health issues and permanently reducing and/or eliminating troublesome symptoms vs just learning how to cope with ongoing mental health concerns. For some clients, weekly therapy is not realistic or preferred. For these clients, Growth Counseling is proud to offer EMDR Intensive Therapy. The Intensive model condenses the treatment to 9 hours of EMDR therapy in a one-week time frame. This is a great option for people who don’t want to wait or don’t have the time to spend weeks or months in therapy before seeing results. Clients will select the schedule that best meets their needs.

What is included in the Intensive Program

  • The option to continue with weekly sessions afterwards, for additional support.

FAQs

Who can benefit from EMDR?

EMDR addresses the psychological and physical symptoms stemming from past and present traumatic events. EMDR “unlocks” the central nervous system, where trauma is stored, so clients can safely and effectively process trauma that has been “stuck” for years.  EMDR is not just for trauma, but has proven effective for anxiety, depression, sleep issues, and relationship problems.

Why an Intensive instead of a normal 50-minute psychotherapy session?

EMDR Intensives assist you with progressing through your trauma and symptoms in a more focused and thorough manner, without worrying about the “50-minute session time clock.” An intensive format may decrease overall treatment time (potentially saving money) because of time not spent on: a) checking in at the beginning of each session, b) addressing current crises and concerns, c) focusing on stabilizing and coping skills that the client won’t need after healing, or d) assisting the client in regaining composure at the end of the session.

If I’m already a weekly client, can I participate in an EMDR Intensive?

Absolutely.  If we are already established, EMDR Intensives can provide quick and effective processing on issues we have already begun to deal with.

If I already have a primary therapist, can I do an EMDR Intensive with you?

Yes. Perhaps you have been making good progress with your primary therapist, but they do not offer EMDR treatment. Maybe you have done really good work and are ready to take the next step in your healing process. With your permission I will coordinate care with your primary therapist, and you can return to routine weekly services with them after completing your intensive program.  We will identify what format is best for you during your initial consultation.

What can I expect to accomplish in a 3-day weekday or weekend Intensive?

Participating in a 3-day (weekday or weekend) EMDR Intensive may create impactful change more efficiently than weekly, 50-minute sessions. You will be guided through a structured process that results in true healing of past trauma wounds, freeing you up and creating a sense that the past is truly in the past.  Many clients experience profound changes and healing through the intensive process.

Can my insurance help pay for this program?

Yes. Many insurance companies reimburse a significant portion of the cost of psychotherapy. For insurance purposes, I am considered an out-of-network provider. It is recommended that you contact your insurance company to determine the exact details of your policy ahead of time, including what benefits are available regarding out-of-network providers and if your insurance will reimburse several hours of therapy in one day or one week. I will provide you with a Superbill for all direct contact therapy services included in the program, which can be submitted to insurance for reimbursement.
